Energy efficiency is a legal, organizational, scientific, industrial, technical and economic target activity aimed at reducing the specific expenses of energy resources, which is implemented by application of interconnected methods for efficient usage of energy, including the involvement of renewable energy sources in the economy.

The final product of energy efficiency can be both direct and indirect.
The direct energy efficiency is directly connected with energy production, conversion and in case of transportation – with saving of energy resources.

The indirect energy efficiency is connected with saving of material, non-energetic resources in case of their mining, processing and operation, which is achieved by decreasing of material capacity of the processed product due to raising its reliability and quality and prolonging the service life of the product.

Energy efficiency has a sense if in case of applying any method or principle for that purpose the impact on the environment is minimum, one does not feel  uncomfortable and at the expense of efficient use of energy some profit is received
